Evolution of man was possible only because of new inventions. In the similar way, progress of man was possible because of technology. Primitive man invented fire and learnt to cook, the primitive man evolved from Neanderthal man to homo-sapiens and from Homo-sapiens to homo-erectus. All this was possible only because of inventing new things. Invention of wheel started it all and today we have evolved to the extent of flying in air with airplanes.

Technology and modern life complement each other. All the luxuries today are because of cutting edge technology and constant innovations by men. Imagine the world without the Internet, or useful websites like http://www.direct.tv. Technology has touched all aspects of our life making us live comfortably. We have attuned ourselves to the comfort of modern world. We longer need to filter and purify water; science has provided us with readymade water purifiers that kill the virus and bacteria in the water instantly. We can shop online, book movie tickets online. Everything is available to us at the click of the button. However this also has some side effects. We are so dependent on technology that we are not passing on the knowledge of using the natural resources indigenously to create things for our comfort.

We are losing touch with our creative side and we are becoming more technical. We have confined ourselves to the rooms full of technological inventions however we are losing touch with nature. Families are not spending time together because each one of them is busy on their laptops, iPods and cell phones. Children are suffering from obesity because they are glued to internet and television. This is causing many health problems. One needs to live a balanced life between technology and nature.

The cellphone

Because of this wonderful invention we can talk to anyone, anywhere and at anytime, send messages via text and applications allow users to listen to music.Not only this but camera phones take clear pictures and video recordings. Most people store important information on cellphones like phone numbers and schedules. The cellphone is revolutionary because it allows us to be connected and share information at record speed.

The Internet

We are more connected to the world than at anytime in history. Instead of mail taking days or weeks an email can be sent and received instantaneously or loved ones are viewed a world away with the aid of “web cams” Instead of going to a library for research, we can research practically every known source of information about our subject, at our own home and at our leisure.

GPS

Electric maps talk and guide us along to the desired destination. With just a touch of the screen a wealth of information can be obtained. Estimated time of arrival, alternate routes, distance to destination, and the ability to find the closest anything. If there is any negative it might be that the user no longer has to think, simply follow the Global Positioning System’s directions. The GPS is not fool-proof and this is when following the GPS blindly can become somewhat humorous.

Technology does something to us, changes us and yes spoils us. Before long we do become thoroughly dependant upon it and wonder how civilization ever got along without it.

Linux is an operating system that was created by Linus Torvalds at the University of Helsinki in Finland. The first version 0.02 was released in 1991 and continued to be worked on until the Linux Kernel was released in1994. From this, the entire Linux operating system was developed.

Customers of the Linux operating system say they like the features Linux offers. Many people enjoy the low price, the customization options, and how easy it is to access the operating system’s features. Customers are also amazed at the freedom they have with Linux. Linux is hardly limited to customization possibilities and it’s completely free to install.

While systems like Windows can cost you a fortune, Linux is free. Other operating systems can cost you hundreds to install onto your computer and you have to pay to renew your license, and that’s for every computer you own.

Technology And The Wireless World

Technology has made world a simpler and more comfortable place to live in. Technology has bought everything at our finger tips. Be it any song from the old era that one wants to listen or be it the latest news on move that one wants to tune in to, they just need to plug into their laptops and search for the related items on the World Wide Web or internet. Many a times we hear our elders saying that their generation was obedient; their generation was active and would love playing outdoor games where as today’s generation is stuck to computers, internet and different gadgets. Many elders would call today’s generation as couch potatoes. To an extent it is true that today’s generation has more friends in virtual world as compared to their friends in physical world. Today’s generation prefers updating their thoughts on internet and social networking sites instead of talking one on one.  Today’s generation or the generation next is gadget friendly and tech savvy.

They love to possess latest gadgets and gizmos. They find being updated on technology more important than being updated on politics or business. Their world is full of iPhone, tablets, laptops, tech wrist units etc. This generation finds it difficult to understand about writing post cards and letters to family. They feel that emails are the best and the cheapest method of communicating, whereas the elders feel that electronic mails lack the personal touch as compared to the post cards and hand written letters. The new generation loves to be surrounded with gadgets.

They like their houses to be cleaned with vacuum cleaners, their food to be cooked in micro wave ovens, their clothes to be washed in fully automatic machines so on and so forth. They like their books to be e-books so that they can read them anywhere on the World Wide Web or on their phones to avoid carrying the bulky books. Our youngsters can relate to internet and laptops as compared to conversations and bulky books. Our youngsters love the gadgets that make their life simpler. This generation is the one click generation. They love everything to be available at their fingertips. Evolution Of Cell Phones

Cell Phones have become an important part of our life. They have become the most sought after means of communication. Cell phones made the communication wireless. The invention of cell phones allowed the consumers to talk while they were on the move. In the initial days the telephone was an awkward looking instrument more of contraption in fact as compared to today’s sleek wall phones. These phones were installed in office and residential premises and were considered a luxury. However with the changing times, people’s preferences and tastes changed. People needed something that was mobile just like them, and then came in the cell phones. The first cell phones were bulky and large.

They resembled the walkie- talkie. There was dearth of cellular service providers and the existing service provider would charge a fortune per call. Consumers were even charged for receiving calls. The cell phones were looked upon as a luxury item or a status symbol then. To counter the expensive services provided by the cellular service providers, competitors launched the pager services. This technology involved leaving a message for the consumer at the pager hot desk; the message would be relayed on the consumer’s pager and the consumer would get back in touch with the person who has sent the message. However pagers failed to achieve the success and develop a liking in the minds of the customers.

Over a period of time, cell phones market grew, with increase in demand of cell phones, there were more cellular companies ready to offer their services at cheaper prices. This led to a domino effect where more people could now demand for the cell phones. Manufactures started understanding the consumer needs and inventing smaller cell phones. These phones were less bulky. Slowly and steadily more and more features were being added to the cell phones.  The third generation mobile phones had the facility of radio, where consumer could tune into a radio frequency and listen to their favorite songs while on the move. Latest cell phones have MP3 player, radio, camera, internet and navigation features in them.
